 From the CEO

Welcome to the first Newsline for 2022.

There have been many changes already at Progressive this year.
Firstly, we have successfully transitioned from Burswood to Belmont and while we have the workshop set up to finalise and a couple of minor items to install to the Board & Training Rooms, we are reasonably settled.

Restructure
The new roles in Operations and Quality are proving to be effective across the organisation and we continue to effectively meet and improve resource, compliance and audit requirements. Thank you to Geoff Oliver and Jamin Feddersen for your consistency in these roles. The feedback from our client interactions with each of you in your respective roles is very positive.

EDN/WDC Contract.
As with all contracts, there is usually an end point. The EDN/WDC Contract that commenced for 6 months in July 2004 has finally come to an end after approximately 16 years. We thank Leon Norris and team for the long partnership that we have had and am sorry that due to contractual changes their end we will now complete this contract June 30. Thank you to numerous staff from our team who have supported this work over the years including Steve Meany who has done a great job and will see the WDC Contract to its finalization.

Broome SEE Program
Due to changes resulting from the pandemic we have this week closed the training/office in Broome. We still hold the contract and are looking at partnership programs with some of our valuable long-term partners in the Kimberley region. Craig Stanley who has facilitated the program for the last couple of years has been able to secure a position with our friends at Kimberley Personnel so we no doubt will get to see him still from time to time.

Glass and Glazing
I appreciate the work Adrian and Nathan have put into the Glass and Glazing area. Adrian in particular has identified and procured some great resources for Apprentices to utilise and I look forward to seeing the workshop being developed to later provide in house training once everything is approved and in place.

Consultancy
We continue to partner with new clients including Indigenous Managed Services, Mamarapha College, and Marr Mooditj Training. Along with our extensive long term client base we look forward to working together with you this year.

Thank you to our Administration, Finance and Client/Business Support and Contract staff that continue to strive to provide high quality training, assessment and consultancy services as we partner together with our clients to meet their needs.

Geoff Feddersen

From the CEO

Welcome to this edition of Progressive Trainings Newsline.
A lot has changed since we last published Newsline back in November last year. Firstly, we had to sadly farewell Jason Driscoll our previous CEO who left us for personal reasons in February. We thank Jason for his 6 years of service and wish him and his family well for his future.
As a result, we have restructured and we now have a new Manager of Quality, and we are delighted to welcome Geoff Oliver to this role. Geoff comes with a great deal of VET and auditing experience. Geoff has had a long association with Progressive and we are delighted to welcome him to be an even more integral part of our management team as we continue to build on the quality & compliance areas of the business.
Additionally, Jamin Feddersen is now in charge of the Operations role, and we thank him for stepping up to manage the organisation in the interim absence of the CEO until we had the restructure in place. Jamin has a passion for seeing projects and contracts managed successfully through to completion and we welcome him to the important role.
I also have great pleasure in welcoming back Bill Belson who worked for Progressive Training for 15 years before leaving for the Eastern States. Bill was previously our Senior Trainer/Assessor who undertook many other roles during his time with us. We look forward to working together again and continuing to build on our 45 years of friendship. Bill says, “I’m Back”, and I say the same now that I have returned to the CEO role.
It is with some sadness that we wish David Sims farewell, as he leaves us to live in Canada. David has been instrumental in heading up our Glass & Glazing team in Perth and we wish him our very best wishes as he starts a new phase of his life. Thank you, David for your valuable contribution, we will miss you.
We also farewell Tanja Parry, who is leaving to take up a role with Joblink and we wish her every success as she leaves us.
We also say thank you and farewell to Ree Dahmen, who has been a wonderful and loyal asset to our finance team. Ree is retiring and looking forward to travelling Australia in their caravan as far as Covid permits.
We welcome to the Glass & Glazing team Nathan McCain and Adrian Croft. We look forward to your contributions in this important area of our organisation.
I am looking forward to working with our existing and new Team in Geraldton, Burswood and Broome. There are some exciting changes coming to Perth, but I will leave that for the next Newsline.
Importantly, now we look forward to working together to serve our clients who continue to choose Progressive Training to provide Vocational Education and Training and consultancy to meet their needs.
Geoff Feddersen

Welcome everyone to Progressive Training’s final Newsline for 2020.

With only three weeks until Christmas and only four weeks until we’re able to wave goodbye to what has been a tumultuous 2020 for many, I wanted to take this opportunity to focus on some of the real positives Progressive Training, as an organisation, have experienced this year.

First and foremost, we have had the absolute pleasure of welcoming to our team, four new staff: Celeste Douglas, Tanja Parry, Craig Stanley and Kylie Quinonez. Tanja has taken over the role of Client Services Coordinator in our Geraldton office, Craig is the Lead Trainer for the Skills through Education and Employment Program (SEE Program) in Broome, Celeste has been employed as the Trainer/Assessor for the Certificate III in Early childhood education and care qualification and Kylie has come on board to assist in the resource review and conduct of the Certificate III in Early childhood education and care. All four have been wonderful additions to our team and I would like to publicly welcome them all and thank them for the positive impact they have had already. Tanja and Craig have provided a little ‘get to know you’ spiel below:

Message from the Directors

Picture
Congratulations and thank you to our team at Progressive Training on achieving re-registration for another 7 years with our regulatory authority. I acknowledge the leadership of our CEO Jason Driscoll supported by Steve Meeny in Compliance, Casey Taylor in Client Services, Sue Backshall in Business Development, Kris and Ree in Finance, Stacey Ackley It Support and Graem Watts, in WorkSafe and high-risk training.

I further acknowledge David Sims and Aidan Feddersen in Glass and Glazing who have raised the training and assessment services to a very high standard. We thank the Glass and Glazing businesses that utilise our services and key industry representatives Peter den Boer, Patrick Gavaghan and Steve Cuff for their exceptional support of us as we have worked through industry specific audits, and ongoing continuous improvements on what we took over a few years ago from another provider.

Thank you to Amanda Dawson for leading our Childcare Training and the invaluable support from Kelly Burton and staff from Bambi Child Care Centre and Kylie Quinones from Early Explorers Learning Centre.

I also acknowledge the contribution of Geoff Oliver who has provided valuable compliance support to us for years. Geoff has challenged and trained our team towards meeting the ever-increasing regulatory burden.

We thank our clients and those who operate in auspicing arrangements with us for their contribution and trust, when we have continued to ask more and more from you as compliance and audit requirements significantly ramped up from 2015 onwards.

We look forward to serving the VET sector in the coming years as we strive to enable students to gain qualifications for a range of employment streams, and specific skills to help them in the workplace.

Geoff and Kris Feddersen
Directors

It is with the greatest of pleasure and utmost pride that we’re able to present this edition of Newsline. There have been several significant achievements over the last few months and I’d like to touch on each one. That being said…  none come bigger than Progressive Training’s successful re-registration as an RTO until 2026!

Re-registration Audit – Successful!
With our previous 5-year registration period coming to an end in June 2019, our re-registration site audit was conducted by the National Regulator, ASQA, in July. After a couple of months awaiting a result, we finally have one and it is the outcome we were all aiming to achieve… 7 years of re-registration! Whilst the Company Directors have offered congratulations and thanks in both this edition of Newsline and via Progressive’s Facebook Page to those who have helped and contributed to this outcome, as the CEO, an achievement of this magnitude can’t go past without some personal acknowledgments from myself.

NEWSLINE - April 2018

Welcome all, to the first edition of Progressive Training’s Newsline for 2018!
It is very pleasing to kick the first Newsline for the year off with such a positive feel on what 2018 has in- store! The hard work our dedicated team put in throughout 2017 has meant we have hit the ground running in 2018 and are positioned for a very busy and exciting year.  My Newsline articles throughout last year highlighted the huge change in direction Progressive Training has taken, delving into Glass and Glazing, Childcare, Skills through Employment and Education Program (SEE), whilst still maintaining a focus on the existing training we’ve had on offer over previous years, such as High Risk Licences and Business Services courses. In this first edition, I’d like to touch on those new ventures with an overview of how we have commenced 2018.

(Participants in the SEE Program engaging in the BSBITU101 – Operate a personal computer Unit of Competency)

Three months ago, I moved to Broome to take on the position of Lead Trainer for the SEE Program (Skills through Education and Employment).  It has been exciting and fulfilling knowing I’ve been instrumental in building the program from what was 1-2 clients / one day per week to averaging 6 -10 per day, every day. We have enrolled our clients into Certificate I in Leadership and we started off with the BSBITU101 unit – Operate a Personal Computer. As of now we have just had our first completion of that unit and we are enrolling that client into their second unit. Since commencing with this program, I have had some challenges mainly due to the rapid growth of the participant numbers and the necessity to maintain an engaging environment. Through hard work and the odd cyclone, I’ve managed to maintain consistent numbers. We are at the point now I need a small bus to pick up the number of participants attending the program on a regular basis! I’ve also been fortunate to have had Kristie join the team, because with Kristie managing the admin side, I get to focus on the delivery of some quality training.

Introducing the newest edition to the Progressive Training fleet! Our new bus looks amazing and will be situated in Broome where it will be used to support the SEE Program and further encourage more participants to attend training.
