Over the years Progressive Training Pty Ltd has formed strong partnerships with a number of organisations and corporate clients and together we have provided a variety of highly successful training and consulting services, courses and programs.   One such partnership of which we are very proud is the long-term relationship we have with Kimberley Group Training (KGT) in both Broome and Kununurra.   Since 2013 Progressive Training and KGT have worked together to deliver the SEE (Skills for Education and Employment) program in Broome.    Mary Zbierski-West, specialist literacy teacher, tells of her success with the program.........and the success of one of her students, Sam Stream.

The SEE program is an Australian Government Initiative which provides training to improve the language, literacy and numeracy skills of eligible job seekers.  It is delivered nationally by Registered Training Organisations and is targeted at all eligible job seekers with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, Youth (15-24 years) and Mature Aged (45 years plus) participants.

Samuel Stream has been involved with the SEE programs at Kimberley Group Training for six months and has already had success writing his own stories.  It was announced recently that Sam was successful in the 2014 Indigenous Creators Scholarship offered by Magabala Books, a Broome based indigenous publishing company.  Sam applied for the scholarship after creating a series of small books which combine two of his great passions - painting and drawing, together with station life at Mount Edgar outside of Marble Bar, the area from where Sam originates.  Sam is an enthusiastic storyteller and it has been a natural combination to bring together his artistic talent and unique insights into outback living.  Sam has been awarded an scholarship worth more than $1000, money to go towards art materials plus the opportunity to attend a specialist short course in Arts at Edith Cowan University in Perth.

Good luck Sam and we look forward to seeing and reading more of your story!
