We are all very aware how hard it can be for small businesses in regional WA in times of economic downturn but it seems also to be a time when some businesses ‘come into their own’ as was evidenced by the recent MWCCI Business Excellence Awards held in Geraldton. Congratulations to the ten businesses who received awards across various categories and the individuals who took out customer service awards at the function on Saturday 25 June 2016. It just goes to show that customers do appreciate good service and well-trained staff!
Welcome to the June edition of Newsline - the year is already half-way through!

It seems that every time there is a new edition of Newsline I get to report on more Training Package changes! This time around I have two for you! The first one is a single unit of competency we have on Scope – MSAPMOHS217A Gas testing atmospheres. This equivalent unit has now been moved from the Well Servicing Training Package, placed into Process Manufacturing and given a coding change...... Half way through the year and interest is on the up for our Certificate IV in WHS and Diploma of Leadership and Management. What this means for me… I get to spend more time in the training room (#awesome). What this means for you… A chance to upskill your staff who might be in a management role or showing the aptitude to take on a management role, with the 2015 release of the Diploma of Leadership and Management. I am currently running a Certificate IV in WHS which has been split over a 5 week period to cater for the client’s needs, and I am happy to report that it is going fantastically! This course was originally developed for the mining sector but also meets the requirements for an individual taking on the role of trade or operations supervisor in a variety of industry settings.
The aim of the Site Supervisor's Course is to provide participants with the introductory skills and knowledge as part of the requirements under the Mines Act for an individual taking on the role of a supervisor. On 16 December 2015, Mr Lex McCulloch the WorkSafe Western Australia Commissioner announced the Department of Commerce – WorkSafe Division (WorkSafe) would be undertaking a review of the model Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations for adoption in Western Australia.
Did you know that one of our long serving trainers, Bill Belson, Senior Consultant, is a bit of a dab hand with the camera? In his spare time Bill likes to get out and about amongst the local wildlife and has contributed these photos for your enjoyment.
