The VET sector continues to evolve and change and we watch with interest the introduction of the new draft RTO and VET Regulator Standards expected to come into effect from 1 January 2015 once they have been considered by the COAG Industry and Skills Council. The draft standards build on the work of the former National Skills Standards Council (NSSC) and incorporate a range of stakeholder views. There is an emphasis in the standards for an RTO to demonstrate educational expertise to deliver quality training and assessment and a requirement to provide an annual declaration to the regulator of compliance with the standards. On the regulator side of the ledger there is some clarity around the requirement for the regulator to provide general education and advice to support RTO's.
Progressive Training (WA) Pty Ltd is offering a great opportunity for our clients and readers to gain some management qualifications before the end of the year - check the details in the 'Training Calendar' section of the newsletter for details of dates for Cert IV Frontline Management as well as the Diploma of Management. We are also offering a Site Supervisors course early in October.
There have been a few staff changes since our last newsletter - we welcomed Jason Driscoll as Lead Trainer/Facilitator who joined us at the end of March and Valentina Strazzera commenced in May to take on the role of Client Services & Training Resources Coordinator. We said goodbye to Erin Lyon who after 3 years with the team has gone on to new pastures. We wished Stacey Ackley all the very best as motherhood beckoned - she and husband Ben welcomed little Oliver into their lives on 17 July. Stacey commenced 12 months maternity leave at the end of June to enjoy the joys of her new baby and family life! We look forward to welcoming her back in the future.
'til next time
