If anyone was lucky enough to have some time off over the Christmas New Year holiday period, I hope that it was enjoyable and everyone has returned healthy, happy and rearing to go for what the New Year may bring.
I was very fortunate to have around six weeks off and spent most of that time in spectacular Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Bali, along with my family and some great friends.
Considering there were six children and six adults in the mix, we all traveled well together, and yes, we are still talking to each other! The mode of travel varied greatly from planes, trains, mini vans, taxis, tuk tuks, boats along the Mekong and even an elephant. There are so many great places we saw that I would have to provide a list of my most favourite as I just could not possibly list one. Halong Bay, Luang Prabung, Mekong River and Chiang Rai would have to be just a few on that list.
Here in the Scope, Training and Compliance Operations department it has also been a busy time recently…hmmm… when is it not?
The New Year has brought with it some great progress in some areas such as traineeships in Cert II in Resource Processing, Business and Leadership packages, and also the re-accreditation of our WorkSafe registration for conducting the Safety Representative’s course.
For all the trainer/assessors out there, do not forget that it is essential you keep on top of your own personal VET knowledge and professional development to aid you in being the best trainer/assessor in your industry. It is so very easy to improve your knowledge base in the VET field. You may already be doing it but do not realise it.
- Do you have a magazine subscription for the industry you train/assess in?
- Have you recently watched a DVD that may have contained useful information you have incorporated into your training/assessing methods?
- Have you found a useful website you refer to that is relevant to your industry?
