‘Talking about training……..’

With 2016 well and truly in full swing, it is nice to take a moment to write a short article for Newsline to reflect on some of the achievements for 2015.

For me personally, 2015 saw Progressive Training continue to upskill numerous people across the region and within Geraldton, specifically in the fields of Management and Work Health and Safety. Several public courses were run throughout the year with all producing great results.
One of the standout courses, from my point of view, was the Diploma of Management that was run for a local Geraldton business. In true Progressive form, we tailored the program to accommodate the work requirements of the participants involved by running the course over several months to allow them to juggle their busy workloads, contextualizing the content to suit workplace needs as well as delivering the course ‘in-location’ at the place of work. It is very pleasing to say that all participants did exceptionally well and all achieved their Diploma.  It was also very satisfying for us (Progressive Training) to receive such positive feedback including a  three page document detailing what had and what will be put into practice within the business as a result of the course.

From a trainer’s point of view, when you receive feedback from participants stating how they have managed to put what they had learnt straight into practice, it really makes you feel good about what you do! This is the level we aim for in each and every course we conduct.

2015 also saw the release of the new Business Services Training Package, which meant a complete re-shuffle of resources and course content for several of the programs. The newly released Certificate IV in WHS was run several times in 2015 and this was the first course to be conducted using the new package.  Once again, Progressive Training received excellent  feedback from all course participants who attended. With WHS harmonization nipping at the heels of OH&S in W.A, it would be fantastic to see more people upskilling before the inevitable introduction of WHS in the not too distant future.

Looking forward to the rest of 2016 and hope to see you in the training room soon.
